Victor Wembanyama has gained a global fanbase, but on Monday, he embraced his own fandom by meeting some Star Wars actors at Space Con 2024. Having openly expressed his love for the franchise multiple times, Wembanyama posed for a photo with some of its most iconic actors.

He took pictures with Ewan McGregor, who portrayed Obi-Wan, Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin, and Rosario Dawson, who depicted Ahsoka.

Since the beginning of his NBA career, Victor Wembanyama has shared his enthusiasm for Star Wars.

Reportedly, his planned first purchase with his initial NBA paycheck was an $850 Millennium Falcon LEGO set.

His favorite Star Wars movie is “Revenge of the Sith,” with “Attack of the Clones” and “The Empire Strikes Back” completing his top three.

Victor Wembanyama debuts Star Wars-themed sneakers

Wembanyama sported custom "Wookiee of the Year" Nike sneakers before the Spurs' home opener on Saturday against the Houston Rockets. The shoes are black Nikes adorned with Chewbacca-style fur, a nod to his beloved Star Wars films.

Wembanyama's custom sneakers were covered in brown and black fur. It also had an alien face on the tongue — a reference to Wembanyama's "The Alien" nickname — and “ROY 24” (Rookie of the Year 2024) printed on the heel.

In Star Wars, Wookiees are imaginary humanoid aliens that originate from the forest planet Kashyyyk. They are characterized by their large size, thick hair and immense physical strength. Similar to Wembanyama, they stand taller than 7 feet.

The most notable Wookiee featured in the films is Chewbacca.

On Saturday night, during their home opener, Wembanyama scored 29 points as the San Antonio Spurs narrowly defeated the Houston Rockets, 109-106.

Wembanyama also recorded seven rebounds and three blocks while shooting 10-for-17 from the field in 30 minutes of play.

“I’m gonna go with Chewbacca at center, I’m going with Yoda at point guard, then shooting guard, I’m gonna go with Han Solo. At the three I’m going with Obi-Wan, and at the four, Darth Vader,” he said.
