PHOTOS: Devin Booker unveils Nike Book 1 “Michigan State” PE shoes ahead of Suns vs Pistons game at MSU

Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker unveiled a special edition of his Nike Book 1 shoe on Tuesday ahead of their preseason game against the Detroit Pistons at the Breslin Center.

The Breslin Center is home to Michigan State, and Booker gifted each player on the Spartans' roster a pair of the special edition Michigan State Spartans Nike Book 1 PE shoes. The four-time All-Star didn't forget the coaching staff, who were also gifted pairs. Before the preseason game, he spent time with their coach, Tom Izzo.

The Spartans' X (formerly Twitter) account posted a video of the gifts from the Suns star.

Booker shared photos of the special pair on his Instagram stories.

Booker repped the Spartans as he wore the university's practice uniform before the game.

Booker enjoyed his time back in his home state of Michigan. However, he isn't the only one from the Suns who hails from the state. Owner Mat Ishbia is from the same state and attended Michigan State from 1999 to 2002.

Devin Booker focused on improving the team's defense this season

The Suns have one of the best offensive trios in Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal. However, Booker wants to focus on the team's defensive identity.

"I think that’s our main focus," Booker said. "We know how talented we are offensively, but the quicker we can jell. The quicker the communication is open between everybody and holding each other accountable, we’ll be in a pretty good place," he added.

Coach Mike Budenholzer wants the Suns to improve their defense following their first preseason game against the LA Lakers.

"I think defensively we can be better," Budenholzer said. "Just executing, offensively. Just all the normal progression from game one to game two of the preseason. I'm sure everybody's just trying to do the same thing, just get better day-to-day."

Over the summer, Booker has shown how well he's improved on the defensive end. His time with Team USA has helped him become a reliable defender and drew praise from Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr.
