PHOTOS: Lakers' Quincy Olivari shares gruesome injury pics after Pelicans forward recalls Hawaii accident
On Friday, New Orleans Pelicans forward Trey Murphy III talked about LA Lakers rookie Quincy Olivari's accident in Hawaii on Murphy's podcast "The Young Man and the Three." Murphy knew everything that happened as the rookie posted videos on Snapchat while the events transpired.
"I think my favorite Quincy story now that he's okay and doing fine," Murphy said. "It's probably when he got hit by a car.
"It starts off on his Snapchat story. He's in Hawaii riding his bike. He has a video of him riding his bike, he's taking, he's panning around and so on. The next Snapchat story is him. The next video is of him in the ambulance with a busted lip, shoulder bruised, all that. And after he called his mom, he probably called me next and told me everything and I was like, 'I'm glad you're okay.' Bro, that is hilarious. Only you would get hit by a car while riding on a bike."
The show's co-host, Tommy Alter, had to confirm with the point guard about the authenticity of what the Pelicans forward said. Olivari later assured the host that everything Murphy had said about his accident was true. After the episode was released, the Lakers rookie shared photos of his accident in Hawaii.
When the accident occurred, the two NBA players kept the specifics to themselves.
Quincy Olivari shared details on his life after getting signed by the Lakers
Quincy Olivari went undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft. But that didn't stop him from working hard and earned him a spot at the Lakers' training camp, which became his path to a contract in the league.
On the same episode of "The Young Man and the Three," he talked about how his life has gone since signing a two-way deal with Los Angeles.
"Last three weeks have been amazing, a blessing, just a snapshot of what hard work does," Olivari said. "Obviously, my favorite moment goes without saying, meeting Steph. That's been my favorite player for a long, long time since sixth grade." (4:00)
The Lakers rookie has yet to play in the league this season.
