"Putting in the work for one common goal": LeBron James maintains Lakers objective ahead of new season
LeBron James and the LA Lakers look locked in heading into the 2024-25 NBA season. Last season was a disappointment when the Lakers got knocked out in the first round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs. LA went up against the Denver Nuggets, who they also lost to in the Western Conference Finals of the 2023 NBA Playoffs.
With the 2024-25 season approaching, James shared that the entire team has one goal in mind.
"Guys are just excited to be back in the gym," James said. "Guys are excited to be a part of the process. That's putting in the work for one common goal."
Since James joined the Lakers, the organization has gone back to its elite status after having a plethora of season droughts since the departure of the late Kobe Bryant. LeBron ultimately delivered on his promise to win the gold for LA in 2020, which solidified his status as one of the Lakers' greats.
However, James and the rest of his crew are yet to follow up on the title they won four years ago.
LeBron James entering his seventh season with LA
LeBron James is about to enter his seventh season with the LA Lakers. Throughout his tenure with the team, he has made history on several occasions. James helped the Purple and Gold win a championship in the infamous "bubble." He also broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's scoring record suiting up for LA. Then LeBron also won the first-ever In-Season Tournament title with the Lakers.
Despite critics saying his time with the Lakers has been underwhelming, there's no denying the contributions James has made to the organization. Looking at the way he performed last season, it doesn't seem like "King" James is slowing down anytime soon.
Last year, James averaged 25.7 points, 8.3 assists, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game. While his postseason came to an early close at the hands of the Denver Nuggets, LeBron made up for his shortcomings by leading Team USA to their gold medal Olympic victory. He was crowned the FIBA Olympics MVP, which is another huge accolade added to his resume.
Fast forward to the 2024 NBA Preseason, LeBron James once again made history when Bronny made his debut as part of the Lakers' main roster. LeBron and Bronny are now the first-ever father-son duo to both be actively playing in the NBA.
It's tough to say if LA can pull it off this season. However, with the addition of their rookie sensation Dalton Knecht, who proved to be an offensive threat in the preseason, things look optimistic for the Purple and Gold heading into the 2024-25 season.
