Quinn Cook claims USA's 2x Olympic gold medalist 'wants no part of' Steph Curry
Steph Curry's former teammate Quinn Cook made a huge claim about Dwyane Wade, a two-time Olympic gold medalist for Team USA. Cook believes Wade "wants no part" of the greatest shooter of all time. Curry and Wade are two of the greatest players ever but are different types of players.
On Dwight Howard's "Above the Rim" podcast, Cook said that Wade is no match against the four-time NBA champion. Discussing the best Olympic teams ever, Howard bet on the Redeem Team, while Cook chose the 2024 Team USA.
"They got Steph. I love Flash, big bro. ... But D-Wade don't want no part of Steph," Cook said.
DeMarcus Cousins clapped back and said that Wade is considered the third-best shooting guard of all time, behind Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. Cook replied:
"I'm talking about the No. 1 point guard of all time."
Just like any debate, these are just the personal preferences of Dwight Howard, DeMarcus Cousins and Quinn Cook. Howard played for the Redeem Team, so he will always choose that reiteration of Team USA.
Meanwhile, Cousins should favor the 2016 Team USA squad that won gold in Rio de Janeiro led by Kevin Durant. As for Dwyane Wade, he was part of the 2008 and 2012 Team USA rosters and is already in the Hall of Fame.
Steph Curry is in his first Olympics and is two wins away from winning the gold medal. Team USA faces Serbia in the semifinals and will take on France or Germany if they make the final.
It should be pointed out that Quinn Cook played with Steph Curry in Golden State, so there's a bias there. Nevertheless, the reason why Cook, Cousins and Howard are in the same place to do the podcast is because they are playing in The Asian Tournament.
Dwyane Wade put Steph Curry on his all-time starting 5
In a video from GQ Sports last year, Dwyane Wade asked to give his all-time starting five. The Miami Heat legend didn't hesitate to name Steph Curry, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Shaquille O'Neal. It's a personal preference some people might not be happy about.
Curry entered the GOAT point guard debate with Magic Johnson when he won his fourth NBA championship. Jordan is the undisputed greatest shooting guard, followed by Bryant. James should end up as the GOAT SF, while Tim Duncan is widely regarded as the greatest power forward of all time.
The most disputed position is center, as Shaq, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Hakeem Olajuwon, Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain have legitimate claims. Nevertheless, it's always an opinion when someone gives his all-time starting lineup.
