Reports: Andre Iguodala will return back for Golden State Warriors against Orlando Magic
After missing the first 40 games, Andre Iguodala is set to make his NBA return.
Iguodala has been dealing with a number of nagging injuries. He has yet to make his season debut. The 38-year old forward played in 31 games for the Warriors last season, averaging 19.5 minutes of playing time.
At this point in his career, Iguodala's locker room presence is his most valuable asset. He will look to provide a spark for the Warriors, who are dealing with a lot of injuries.
Iguodala announced on the "Point Forward" podcast that will make his return this Saturday against the Orlando Magic.
Andre Iguodala set to make his debut for Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors are hoping that Andre Iguodala's return to the lineup will give them some extra motivation. Iguodala, who is in his 19th NBA season, still has the tools to be an impactful bench player. The 38-year old has averaged 11.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.2 assists over a span of 1223 games.
The Golden State Warriors have been inconsistent all season. They are coming off a disappointing home loss to the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday. Before the loss to the Pistons, the Warriors were starting to trend in the right direction. They had won five of their last six games. They did this without Stephen Curry.
Andre Iguodala played an extended amount of minutes during the second half of last season. He averaged 4.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists. While Iguodala isn't the same player he was earlier in his career, his veteran presence on the court should be impactful for a young Golden State roster.
The Warriors are currently 9th in the Western Conference with a 20-19 record. They are just two games up on the 11th place Minnesota Timberwolves.
The story of the Warriors' season has been their home and road disparities. They have the league's best home record at 17-3 and worst road record at 3-16. Their last road win came against the Toronto Raptors on December 18. Prior to that, they had lost five straight games away from Chase Center.
The Golden State Warriors will embark on a five-game road trip following their game against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday. They'll kick it off against the San Antonio Spurs on January 13. It will conclude against the Cleveland Cavaliers on January 20.
