Reports: LeBron James and Anthony Davis are both listed as probable against the Golden State Warriors
Los Angeles Lakers stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis are both listed as probable for tomorrow night's contest against the Golden State Warriors, according to Jovan Buha of The Athletic, who tweeted:
"The Lakers list LeBron James and Anthony Davis as probable tomorrow vs. Golden State."
The lack of availability from the two stars has hurt the Lakers this season as they are just 27-32, sitting in 13th place in the Western Conference. However, the Lakers do have an opportunity to make a run for the postseason, as they are just two games behind the 10th seed, which would grant them a spot in the play-in tournament. More importantly, they are only three and a half games behind the sixth seed, which would allow them to bypass the tournament altogether.
After making deadline moves to improve the roster, the Lakers played just one game at full strength. However, it may have been their most complete performance of the season.
James has appeared in 45 of the Lakers 59 contests this season and is averaging 30.0 points, 8.4 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game while shooting 50.8% from the field. Davis has appeared in just 33 games and is averaging 26.0 points, 12.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 2.0 blocks per game while shooting 56.2% from the field.
Jalen Rose believes LeBron James and Anthony Davis will lead the Los Angeles Lakers to the postseason
LeBron James and Anthony Davis have both stressed the importance of the final 23 games of the season. Former NBA player and current analyst Jalen Rose believes the Los Angeles Lakers will make the postseason as long as the two stars stay healthy. Speaking on ESPN's Get Up, Rose stated:
"I believe LeBron James and Anthony Davis will find a way to get these Los Angeles Lakers to the playoffs, and as you mentioned, they did make a couple of tweaks... but ultimately, having those two guys and LeBron playing as dominant as he's playing - if Anthony Davis can stay healthy, these Lakers will be in the playoffs."
While the Lakers roster was poorly constructed, aside from their two stars, prior to the trade deadline, General Manager Rob Pelinka was able to reconstruct the roster to add players that fit with the talents of James and Davis. The key to the Lakers season, however, remains the health of their two stars.
