Reports: Phoenix Suns could target Bogdan Bogdanovic amid their trading options
Atlanta Hawks veteran Bogdan Bogdanovic hasn't played a game this season. That hasn't stopped the Phoenix Suns from being intrigued by trading for the offensive wing.
With the NBA season marching on, plenty of teams are starting to look around for potential trades. Front offices are evaluating their roster and trying to figure out what they need to improve. While Bogdan Bogdanovic hasn't played, his past resume would be a welcome addition by many teams.
Bogdanovic has the tools to be a serious get for any organization. That includes the Phoenix Suns, who are rumored to be interested in the 30-year-old guard. According to "The Ringer's" Kevin O'Connor, the Suns have targeted Bogdanovic in a potential trade.
"League sources say Bogdanovic remains on Phoenixβs radar; he checks a lot of boxes as a shooter, ball handler and rock-solid defender," O'Connor said. "But he hasnβt played yet this season while recovering from offseason knee surgery."
Bogdan Bogdanovic connected to Phoenix Suns
The Phoenix Suns continue to look for additional assets to help them contend in the Western Conference. The rumored interest in Atlanta Hawks guard Bogdan Bogdanovic is a fascinating one.
Phoenix finds itself lacking depth as of late. Veteran forward Jae Crowder continues to stand firm with his request for a trade. Young wing Cam Johnson has been sidelined with an injury. Thus, the Suns have struggled with their depth.
The Suns would be wise to start looking at potential moves to improve their roster for the long haul. Bogdanovic would be an interesting addition, as he would give the Suns another offensive weapon in the rotation. During the 2021-22 season, Bogdan averaged 15.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game while shooting 43.1% in just 29.3 minutes.
Phoenix (10-6) has won two of its last three games. The Suns have a promising stretch of games coming up, including a Tuesday night matchup against the LA Lakers (5-10).
The Suns will be aggressive in paying attention to the trade market, as they are in need of adding to their depth. Bogdan Bogdanovic is set to make $18 million this year, before a player option for the 2023-24 season.
Phoenix, which went a league-best 64-18 last season after reaching the 2021 NBA Finals, has been connected to a number of different players lately. It's been reported that the team has had an interest in Atlanta Hawks forward John Collins as well.
