Reports: Zion Williamson is ruled out against San Antonio Spurs for health issues
New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson will miss their game against the San Antonio Spurs tonight, sources say. Williamson has entered Health and Safety protocols, making him unavailable in tonight's bout.
The Pelicans big man has played 25 games this season and has only missed five games. Williamson is averaging 25.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists for the 2022-23 campaign. His play this season could be a ticket to his second All-Star appearance.
Zion Williamson is carrying the Pelicans this season
In addition to Zion's absence, Brandon Ingram remains out for the Pelicans as he tries to recover from a left big toe contusion. With Ingram's absence, it was Williamson who did most of the heavy lifting for the team. Now that he won't be available to play, someone needs to step up big time.
New Orleans is currently the third seed in the Western Conference with a record of 18-12. Their meeting against the Spurs marks their third this year. The Pelicans have also dominated the Spurs in their past two bouts, with Williamson headlining both games.
The Pelicans have been a surprise, all thanks to the work that Williamson has put in.
