Rick Kamla lauds Giannis Antetokounmpo on his recent performance: “This is herculean, oh my God, Wilt Chamberlain stuff”
Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks might quietly be having the best eight-game stretch of his career. There is a good argument to be made that he's having his best-ever regular season as well.
Giannis is averaging a career-high 32.7 points while shooting an insanely efficient 53.2% from the field.
Analyst Rick Kamla, appearing on SiriusXM's show, lauded the Greek's recent run of form.
"He is on the best regular season stretch of his career. He has hit 44 more in five of the last eight games. Obviously, 55 a couple of nights ago. 43 before that, 45 before that, he's also got a 45 and a 42 in this eight-game run. Last night, a 30, 21, and 10 triple-double. In his last two games, Giannis is averaging 42.5 points, 15.5 rebounds, and 8.5 assists.
He also compared Giannis Antetokounmpo's exploits to those of NBA great Wilt Chamberlain.
"I can't say he's never been better than this because we've seen him in the finals against Phoenix and all that kind of stuff. The statement I want to make is I've never seen him better in an eight-game run in the regular season than we're seeing right now. This is herculean, oh my god, Wilt Chamberlain stuff we're seeing from Giannis."
Giannis Antetokounmpo's insane regular season
After Giannis Antetokounmpo broke his career high of 52 points with 55 against the Washington Wizards, he spoke about what it meant to him. He broke down how he has been training and also mentioned how much he loves the city of Milwaukee.
"I just work on it as much as I can," he said of his free throws. "It's something I need to get better on. I'm not satisfied where I am right now. I just try to get as many extra reps as I can, before the game, the day before the game, after the game, anytime I have the opportunity to just rep, rep it out, I take it.
"It's something I'm not the best at it and I have to get better because I know I'm going to be put myself in situations that sometimes I've got to knock down free throws for my team to win a basketball game. And I want to.
"I think it's a part of my game that I can be better and I can make a more complete player and put myself in position to help my team win a game."
Bucks fans were ecstatic after the game. Not only did Rick Kamla praise Giannis Antetokounmpo, but Bucks fans were also giving him even more praise for what he said about Milwaukee. The Greek Freak added:
“I wouldn’t be the person that I am without this city. But at the end of the day, we don’t only play for the name on the back, we play for the name on the front.”
Perhaps this could be a sign that Giannis Antetokounmpo is never going to leave the Bucks. He's preached loyalty in the past and it seems likely that he will stay in the city. However, as we've seen with other stars, saying they will stay and staying are two different things.
Giannis seems to be different and it would be great for the Bucks if he stays there forever.
