Rob Parker tears into LeBron James for claiming he's accomplished everything - "Why are you playing?"
LeBron James has put together an incredible resume over an illustrious 21-year career at the professional level. The four-time league MVP and four-time NBA champion stated this week at the LA Lakers media day that there is nothing left for him to accomplish in the league.
In a recent episode of "The Odd Couple" on Fox Sports Radio, NBA analyst Rob Parker slammed James for his latest comments.
"He has got everthing? So this season winning a championship, that's not something to accomplish?," Parker asked. "Why are you playing? Is it just for pictures with you and your son with the same uniform?" (6:35)
James was asked this week if he had anything left to accomplish in the NBA and had the following reply:
"No. Everything else is extra credit," said James.
Rob Parker was unhappy with James for not stating that he wanted to win another championship with the Lakers this season, an organization that has invested a great deal in him.
"What I have to accomplish is to win this fine organization, which did me a solid, put my son . ... by taking his son," added Parker. "Nobody else averaging five points for a bad USC team is getting drafted...that's the solid they did.
"If I am a Laker fan, I want to hear that winning a championship for this organization is what I have left to accomplish," added Parker.
Over six seasons in Los Angeles, James has won one championship, when he led the Lakers to a 4-2 finals series victory over the Miami Heat in 2020.
LeBron James is one of the most decorated players in the history of the NBA. The Ohio native was named the Rookie of the Year in 2004 and has gone on to be selected to the All-Star Game on 20 occasions. He was also named the AP Male Athlete of the Year on four occasions.
The 39-year-old superstar holds the all-time NBA points record with a whopping 40,474 points, over 2,000 more than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in second place.
Rob Parker criticized the Lakers for drafting LeBron James' son Bronny James
The LA Lakers selected LeBron James' son Bronny with the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft. The decision surprised many analysts considering Bronny James averaged 4.8 points, 2.1 assists and 2.8 rebounds over his freshman season with the USC Trojans.
Following the draft, Rob Parker was highly critical of the Lakers for drafting the 19-year-old guard.
"I think this is the worst decision that has ever happened in professional sports," Parker said on FOX Sports Radio in July.
LeBron James and Bronny James are set to be the first father-son duo to play alongside each other in the NBA next season. It will be a historic moment when they take the court together at some during the 2024/25 campaign.
