Rockets head coach takes savage dig at Tyler Herro after wild fight against Amen Thompson
Houston Rockets head coach Ime Udoka was tossed out following the brawl between Miami Heat star Tyler Herro and Rockets guard Amen Thompson. The sequence happened with 35.7 seconds remaining in the game with the Heat leading 99-94. After bumping and grabbing each other, Thompson threw Herro to the floor, prompting other players to join the scuffle.
After the game, Udoka had this to say about the fight (via Vanessa Richardson):
“I didn’t see it live, but I rewatched it. They were in each other’s faces, bumping chests a little bit. One guy is stronger than the other.”
Amen Thompson is bigger and likely stronger than Herro. With Herro struggling to get up, Terry Rozier jumped on Thompson, causing a near free-for-all brawl. Jalen Green and Rozier also got tangled during the commotion.
Tyler Herro was tossed out with Rozier for the Miami Heat. Ime Udoka, Green and assistant coach Ben Sullivan were ejected.
With Jimmy Butler and Herro sent to the locker room late, the Heat survived to pull off a gritty 104-100 win on the road. Miami’s combo guard tallied a game-high 27 points with nine assists and six rebounds.
Ime Udoka and the Houston Rockets get a rematch with Tyler Herro and the Miami Heat in March
Basketball fans who want more action between the Miami Heat and Houston Rockets can tune in on Friday, March 21, 2025. Instead of the Toyota Center in Houston hosting the event, the rematch will be at The Pat Riley Court at Kaseya Center in South Beach.
After the brawl that caused a storm on social media, a rematch between Tyler Herro and Amen Thompson will be interesting. Ime Udoka’s shot at Herro will only add intrigue to the upcoming showdown.
Whether Jimmy Butler returns for that game or not, Tyler Herro will continue to be one of Miami’s best options on offense. Udoka, like in the first meeting, will try to slow down the sweet-shooting guard, by putting Thompson on Herro.
