Ron Harper slams Fat Joe's shocking Karl-Anthony Towns claim on Carmelo Anthony's pod in 2 words
Chicago Bulls dynasty legend Ron Harper wasn't entertaining New York Knicks superfan Fat Joe's shocking claim on Karl-Anthony Towns on Carmelo Anthony's podcast, "7 PM in Brooklyn." In the latest episode released Thursday on the podcast's YouTube channel, Fat Joe said Towns was the most talented offensive big man he had ever seen.
The rapper went as far as saying that the Knicks' star center was better than the likes of Shaquille O'Neal, Hakeem Olajuwon and Nikola Jokic, among others. Joe made his case based on Towns' unpredictable skillset as a scorer.
"I don't think I've seen a better offensive big man in my life than KAT," Joe said. "I've sat in the game and watch KAT do 10 moves. You cannot know what he's gonna give you. Hit 'em with the left, hit 'em with the right; spin on you this way, that way, that way. That's impossible to guard. He's dumb.
Reacting to a snippet of this segment on X (formerly Twitter), Bulls legend Harper slammed Fat Joe in two words.
"Shut up!!!!!" Harper wrote.
Ron Harper seemingly believes Karl-Anthony Towns isn't in that conversation of being the most talented offensive center. While the Knicks big is versatile because he has a reliable jumper, his counterparts from the past and present are also equipped with certain skills that Towns may not possess.
Shaquille O'Neal was one of the most dominant centers because he was physically unstoppable in his prime as a threat around the rim. O'Neal was also a better playmaker and floor reader than Towns. Meanwhile, Hakeem Olajuwon's footwork is ranked among the best across the board and not just among centers.
Nikola Jokic is a three-time MVP and a triple-double machine, who probably has a better claim at being crowned as the most talented offensive big man ever. Akin to Karl-Anthony Towns, Jokic can make 3s at a high clip, make plays like a point guard and score at will.
Former 6MOTY winner backtracks claim after putting Karl-Anthony Towns over Nikola Jokic
The Karl-Anthony Towns buzz picked up steam ever since his move to New York. With a better-suited team supporting his offensive talents as a three-level scorer, the All-Star has impressed everyone, averaging 24.9 points, 13.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists, shooting 52.9%, including 44.2% from 3.
On Nov. 6, former Sixth Man of the Year winner Lou Williams also made a similar claim to Fat Joe, saying:
"Karl-Anthony Towns is more skilled, but Nikola Jokic is more impactful."
However, Jokic put up 23 points, 20 rebounds, 16 assists, two blocks and two steals in a 124-122 win over the OKC Thunder on the same night and Williams changed his tone in the next 24 hours, saying "he was absolutely wrong."
