"Rudy Gobert is getting ready for Draymond Green": NBA fans react after 7'1" Wolves star training with UFC interim champ goes viral
NBA fans reacted to a viral video featuring Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert sparring against former UFC Interim Heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane.
The three-time NBA All-Star is training for his 12th NBA season after he claimed another Defensive Player of the Year award in 23-24.
Leaguealerts posted Gobert's training video on Instagram along with a humorous caption.
"Rudy Gobert is getting ready for Draymond Green."
The caption references Gobert's scuffle with Draymond Green on November 14 of last season. Fans reacted to the video in the comments section.
"He needs to be posting shooting videos," one fan commented, poking fun at Gobert.
"Needs to go work on some post moves, hasn't been one offseason I've seen him working on his game," another fan added.
"He needs to practice catching them passes. Boy was trippin' during the playoffs," a third fan stated.
Other fans showed support for Green in a hypothetical fight.
"The [Draymond Green] body shot would fold Rudy," one fan humorously stated.
"[Draymond Green] just gone put him in a chokehold," another fan added. "That's what he need to work on."
The two-time NBA DPOY posted 14.0 points, 12.9 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game in his second season with the Timberwolves.
Shaquille O'Neal has bold Rudy Gobert take
In an interview with Complex last week, NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal harshly criticized Rudy Gobert.
When asked who was the worst NBA player ever, O'Neal immediately offered up one name.
"Oh, Rudy Gobert. I'm going to tell you why. If you sign a contract for [$250 million], show me 250. There's a reason why I walk funny, why I can't turn my neck and why I can't do it is because I played for my [$120 million]. So you got guys like him that f**k the system over, they're making all this money and they can't f**king play."
This isn't the first time the four-time NBA champion has criticized the Timberwolves big man. O'Neal has blasted Gobert for years. Following Shaq's comments last week, Gobert had a strong response on X.
"It is sad to see someone that has accomplished as much as you did @SHAQ both in sport and business still be triggered by another man's finances and accomplishments. I get the entertainment part but unlike other folks, you don't need that stuff to stay relevant."
Gobert seems tired of the disrespect as he works towards another successful season in 2024-25.
