Rudy Gobert pens heartfelt message for Karl-Anthony Towns following trade to New York Knicks

Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert developed a special relationship during their time together in Minneapolis. The duo provided Minnesota Timberwolves fans with some electric basketball over the last two seasons. With Towns' trade to the New York Knicks now official, Gobert shared a heartfelt message of support for his former teammate.

Gobert took to social media to bid farewell to Towns and wish him well on his journey. On his Instagram story posted on Saturday, the French center shared an image of the two players smiling and sharing a moment in casual workout clothes.

"Keep writing your unique story my brother," wrote Gobert. "Grateful that I got to be a part of it."

The Timberwolves selected Towns with the first overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft and the Dominican-American forward has been a staple in the lineup ever since. He went on to play in 605 regular season and playoff games for the organization and developed into a fan favorite for the team's loyal supporters.

Towns was named the Rookie of the Year in 2016 and is a four-time All-Star selection. He has also been voted into the All-NBA Third Team on two occasions.

Pairing Gobert and Towns brought tremendous success to an organization that struggled to remain competitive in the Western Conference over the last two decades. In the 2022/23 season, Minnesota reached the playoffs for just the second time in five seasons. Last year, they recorded an impressive 56 wins to finish third in the West and went all the way to the conference finals.
