Rudy Gobert's girlfriend Julia Bonilla hypes up Victor Wembanyama and his partner ahead of Olympic final vs Team USA
Rudy Gobert and Victor Wembanyama are the present and the future of the France basketball men's national team. The two centers share touches in the 2024 Paris Olympics and will try to win the gold medal at home.
Gobert's girlfriend, Julia Bonilla, was excited after France clinched a spot in the gold medal game following a thrilling game against Germany. She shared a video on Instagram of Gobert and Wembanyama hugging after the game and hyped up the pair with a two-word message.
"These two!" Bonilla captioned the post.
Gobert and Wembanyama were remarkable last season. Gobert got a second chance to compete with the Minnesota Timberwolves and helped them reach the Western Conference finals for the first time since 2004. He won a record-tying fourth Defensive Player of the Year award.
Wembanyama made his much-awaited debut in the association after being drafted with the No. 1 overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs last year. The big man became a star in the league in his first season and took the Rookie of the Year award home.
Former Spurs big man offers major piece of advice to unlock Victor Wembanyama's offense
Besides Julie Bonilla hyping him up, former San Antonio Spurs big man LaMarcus Aldridge had a strong message for Victor Wembanyama. The seven-time NBA All-Star explained what Wemby could do to reach the next level.
“He is so skilled, I would just break his sh*t down and be like get a move, that if it’s fourth quarter you are gonna go to it," Aldridge said, "Like my sh*t, it was always my fade. Beginning of the game, end of the game. And it helps you stop thinking so f*cking much like, end of the game, you're too skilled.
"You're trying to think, 'Do I want to do this, do that, do this' get one move, where it's like, I don't care who's guarding you. You know that I'm saying. And build-off that sh*t.”
He added:
“I feel like he is so skilled. He is like got 18 different moves in his head and he is playing too fast right now. So I am just like ‘slow yourself down and get two moves to go to.’”
Wembanyama just finished his first NBA season, and it's fair to say he exceeded expectations with the Spurs.
