Rudy Gobert's girlfriend Julia Bonilla sits on his lap as she shares loved-up snaps from date night
Amid the noise surrounding the Minnesota Timberwolves' struggles, Rudy Gobert has mostly kept his personal life out of the spotlight. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year recently enjoyed a romantic date night with his girlfriend, Julia Bonilla.
On Saturday, Bonilla shared a series of pictures from the evening on her Instagram account. In the photos, she was cozied up on Gobert's lap, and in one image, she was snapped kissing him on the cheek.
"Je t’aime (I love you)🔗," she wrote in the caption.
Rudy Gobert and Julia Bonilla have kept their relationship mostly private. Their relationship became public earlier this year when Gobert announced they were expecting their first child. The couple welcomed their son on May 6.
Rudy Gobert's girlfriend Julia Bonilla slams fan wishing death of Timberwolves players
The Timberwolves entered the 2024-25 season as title contenders. However, nearly a quarter of the season has passed, and they have yet to look like the team that reached the Western Conference finals last season.
Amid this slump, Timberwolves players have faced harsh criticism on social media, with one even wishing death on the players.
Rudy Gobert's girlfriend responded to the comment, slamming the fan's behavior and reminding fans that players are human beings with families.
"Why have we gotten to a point where it's normal to wish death on people just because a team lost a basketball game? We shouldn't just brush off this behavior or accept it as normal," Julia wrote. "Sure, everyone has their opinions, but let's remember that these are real people with families. No one should have to deal with insults or threats because of a game."
"Anyway, I'm going to focus on my own stuff now, but I genuinely wish the best for anyone struggling to keep a healthy mindset."
The Timberwolves have played 19 games in the 2024-25 season and have a 9-10 record, placing them 11th in the Western Conference. They rank 10th in defensive rating — down from No. 1 last season — and 17th in offensive rating.
Rudy Gobert is also averaging just 1.6 blocks per game, the third-lowest mark of his career, and 10.4 points per game, his lowest in nine years.
