Rudy Gobert's girlfriend Julia Bonilla wishes 'bonne route' to Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordyn Woods

Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns are no longer teammates heading into the 2024-25 NBA season after the Minnesota Timberwolves traded KAT to the New York Knicks. Gobert's girlfriend Julia Bonilla wished Towns and Jordyn Woods a "bonne route" for their new adventure at the Big Apple.

In a post on her official Instagram Stories, Bonilla shared a couple of photos of herself with Towns and Woods. It was from Gobert's 32nd birthday celebration last June in Paris ahead of the 2024 Olympics.

"Bonne route @jordynwoods @karltowns ❤️❤️❤️ we will miss you!" Bonnila wrote.

The phrase "bonne route" is a French term that means "have a safe journey" or "drive carefully." It was Julia Bonilla's way of saying goodbye to two of her friends who were moving to New York City.

The Minnesota Timberwolves stunned the NBA world when they traded big man Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks in a three-team deal that also involved the Charlotte Hornets. The Timberwolves were coming off an appearance in the Western Conference Finals, so it was a surprising decision.

Minnesota acquired Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, Keita Bates-Diop and a future first-round pick from the Detroit Pistons.

The Knicks got Towns, who will be playing alongside Jalen Brunson, OG Anunoby and Mikal Bridges. The Hornets received DaQuan Jeffries from New York plus future draft compensation.

On paper, the Knicks and Timberwolves seemingly won the trade since Towns fit perfectly in New York, although their roster lacks depth. As for Minnesota, Randle gives coach Chris Finch a lot of options since Naz Reid can replace KAT on offense.

Anthony Edwards reacts to Karl-Anthony Towns' trade

Speaking to reporters for the Minnesota Timberwolves Media Day last Monday, Anthony Edwards was asked about Karl-Anthony Towns' trade. Edwards understood that it's a business but Towns will remain his brother for life while also being ready to play with his new teammates.

"I think everybody knows KAT my brother so that definitely hurt. It's a business. I just gotta roll with it. I'm ready to get to know them [Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo] and try to get it figured out as fast as we can because we trying to get back to where we was and go even farther," Edwards said. The Timberwolves are set to open their preseason game against the LA Lakers on Friday at the Acrisure Arena in Riverside County, California.
