Rudy Gobert's girlfriend Julia holds hands with Olympic medalist during tropical getaway
After a great 2023-24 season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Rudy Gobert won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics. The reigning NBA Defensive Player Of The Year is quietly enjoying his offseason with his girlfriend Julia Bonilla.
The mother of Gobert's child posted a snap of the tropical gateway on her social media. Bonilla posted a picture of herself in a colorful cap while holding her boyfriend's hand and placing her chin on Gobert's hand. She captioned the picture with a heart emoji.
Rudy Gobert and Victor Wembanyama represented France in the 2024 Paris Olympics basketball event. The French team went to the Olympic final for the second consecutive Olympics, after 2020 Tokyo.
They faced LeBron James-led Team USA in the gold medal game. Team USA defeated the French team by 98-87 to win the gold medal.
Julia Bonilla defends Rudy Gobert after being called overrated by some peers in NBA
Bonilla has been extremely supportive of her partner, both on and off the court. When Gobert was called an overrated player after he won his fourth Defensive Player of The Year, Bonilla came in his support.
In a poll conducted by The Athletic, Gobert topped the list of “Who’s the league’s most overrated player?” A total of 142 players voted in the poll.
On her Instagram, Bonilla said that Gobert was the “most dedicated, focused, hard-working person” she had ever met in her life. She also wrote that Gobert deserved all the respect for his focus on his career.
"He hasn't stolen anything from anyone and deserves all the respect for his determination and commitment to his career," she said.
According to People, the couple made their relationship public in February 2024. The girlfriend of the Minnesota Timberwolves defensive star works primarily as an agent and art director. She also follows her passion for writing through her blog Julia BNL.
In February, Gobert announced he was going to be a father. Their son Romeo was born on May 7 when the Timberwolves were facing the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference second round. Gobert missed Game 2 to be with his partner during childbirth.
Rudy Gobert and the Timberwolves will enter the 2024-25 season with a stronger hope. Last season, they were eliminated by the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference finals.
