Russell Westbrook and DeAndre Jordan get a kick out of rookies vibing to Taylor Swift's chartbuster (Video)
This season, Russell Westbrook begins a new chapter of his career with the Denver Nuggets. As training camp continues, he and another veteran seem to be enjoying watching the rookies pay their dues.
It's customary across all teams that some act is done to embarrass that year's rookies. Typically, it involves some performance of singing and dancing in front of a crowd. This was the case for the Nuggets, as their first-year players were recently spotted singing along to a pop star Taylor Swift song.
While the group sang along to the hit musician, some of the veterans joined around to record the performance. Among those who seemed to be having the most fun were Russell Westbrook and DeAndre Jordan.
Westbrook has bounced around the league in recent years and once again finds himself on a contender. A few years removed from winning an NBA championship, the Nuggets are looking to get back to a position where they can challenge for the league title. They've lost multiple key veterans since then and are hoping the former MVP can fill some of the void.
Since transitioning to a reserve role, Westbrook has figured out how to still be an impactful piece for a team. Last season with the LA Clippers, he averaged 11.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists off the bench.
Russell Westbrook making the most of overseas experience
Russell Westbrook and the Denver Nuggets got a bit of a head start on media day and training camp due to their preseason schedule. This week, they'll take on the reigning champion Boston Celtics in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Following a few days of work at home, the Nuggets hopped on the plane to hit Abu Dhabi early before their games with the Celtics. While they are over there to help grow the game, the team is also making sure to embrace their new surroundings.
Earlier this week, the Nuggets posted a series of photos of the team spending time together in a desert. During this experience, Russell Westbrook decided to experience riding a camel.
The Nuggets and Celtics will play two games in Abu Dhabi, one on Oct. 4 and another on Oct. 6. After that, both squads will return to the States to finish out their preseason schedule.
These games overseas will be the first time Westbrook has a chance to play with his new team in a competitive setting. With Jamal Murray slotted in as Denver's starting point guard, the former All-Star is expected to fill the role of the team's sixth man. Westbrook will be called upon to bring energy off the bench and provide stability in a young second unit.
