Russell Westbrook's wife Nina Westbrook's drops 2-word reaction after UCLA snaps South Carolina's 43-game win streak
Russell Westbrook’s wife, Nina Westbrook, left UCLA 13 years ago but remains a big fan of the school basketball program. Now a licensed marriage and family therapist, “The Little Ark” founder continues to keep track of the Bruins. She couldn’t be any happier when her alma mater pulled off the biggest upset in women’s college basketball in the 2024-25 season.
Westbrook reacted on Instagram to the Bruins’ 77-62 win over South Carolina that halted the Gamecocks’ 43-game winning run:
“Let’s go!”
Before the loss to the Bruins, South Carolina last tasted defeat on April 1, 2023, when they went down 77-73 to Caitlin Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes. The Gamecocks got their revenge against the Hawkeyes in the championship game last season. Kamilla Cardoso and Co. beat Clark’s team 87-75 to cap off an unbeaten run to the title.
Heading into Sunday’s showdown, Russell Westbrook and Nina Westbrook’s former school had a four-game winning streak. As the No. 5 team, they were the big underdogs against the reigning women’s basketball champs. UCLA, behind a balanced attack led by Londynn Jones, Gabriela Jaquez, Kiki Rice, Elina Aarnisalo and Lauren Betts, pulled the rug from under the Gamecocks.
The Bruins' defense clamped down on South Carolina right off the bat. They limited the star-studded team to 10 first-quarter points. UCLA led 43-22 at halftime. The Dawn Staley-coached team tried to rally in the second half, but the Bruins had every answer to their opponents’ attack.
