"Saw him walking in with nothing but bright blue tights": Dwyane Wade's ex-teammate shares story of Heat legend's bold entrance
Miami Heat shooting guard Josh Richardson hasn't forgotten his first encounter with franchise legend Dwyane Wade. Richardson was the 40th pick of the Heat during the post-LeBron James era. He spent his first four seasons with the team where he flourished as a decent role player and had some iconic moments with Wade.
Richardson is back with the team that drafted him after bouncing around the league since he was traded by the organization in 2019. He was a free agent last summer and joined the team that took a chance on him in 2015.
During his first season with the Heat, the franchise was trying to build a contending team around Wade and All-Star big man Chris Bosh. Although the two were already aging at that time, they still had some juice left.
Richardson appeared in the recent episode of "The OGs," hosted by former Heat players Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller. The guard shared his unique encounter with Wade during the 2015-16 season.
"I remember, one of the first days we're playing pickup," Richardson recalled. "D-Wade had just got back in town. We playing like a game already. I see somebody walk in the gym with nothing on but a pair of bright blue tights.
"Why is he walking to here like that? Where are his pants? He's like posting people up. Just with his tights on and I'm like, 'I hope this ain't what it's gonna be like every day.'"
The two only played for two-and-a-half seasons together. During Richardson's rookie year, Wade played his last season with the Heat as an All-Star before signing with the Chicago Bulls the following year. The franchise star switched teams for a second time and joined LeBron and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
However, he only played for 46 games before he was traded back to the Heat. Richardson was part of the Miami team during Wade's final year.

Richardson recalls Dwyane Wade's iconic playoff performance against the Hornets
During Richardson's rookie year, Dwyane Wade led the Heat to the playoffs. Although they weren't favorites to come out of the East that year, Wade still made their run memorable. They matched up against the Charlotte Hornets in the first round and the three-time champion displayed a historic act.
During Game 6 of the series, a fan sitting courtside at the Spectrum Center heckled Wade. It wasn't the brightest idea as the shooting guard exploded for 23 points to force a Game 7 back in Miami. Richardson talked about how he was in awe of the star's performance despite being on the floor with him.
"D-Wade don’t shoot much threes… Wade shooting step back threes, turn around looking at this dude on the sideline all the way back," Richardson said.
Dwyane Wade's performance against the Hornets was fueled by the "purple shirt man," which helped the Heat advance to the next round. The 13-time All-Star averaged 19 points, 5.4 rebounds and five assists during that series.
