"Scares the living hell out of me" - Paul Pierce asserts Luka Doncic exudes aura similar to Michael Jordan & Kobe Bryant
Former Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce talked about how he sees the aura of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant in Luka Doncic. Pierce also shared how the Dallas Mavericks star scared him with his greatness on the floor. The 2008 Finals MVP shared what it was like for him to see Doncic play live for the first time.
Doncic is one of the best talents in the league right now. At just 25 years old, the Slovenian star has already been named to five All-NBA First Teams. Additionally, he's also been an All-Star five times in his young career. Now, he has a chance to win a championship as he's led the Mavs to their second conference finals.
Pierce, together with his close friend and former teammate Kevin Garnett, were discussing their picks of who would win Thursday night. Game 5 of the Western Conference finals takes place at Target Center and the Mavs have a chance to close the series. But the former Celtics star segued to discuss his first time seeing Doncic play live.
"Luka scares the living hell out of me," Pierce told Garnett. "When we saw him live, at your retirement. The way he controlled the game when you actually there and you see it, it was like godd**n.
"He got that, in a quiet way, that [Michael] Jordan-Kobe [Bryant] type of kill mentality."
After his take on Doncic's greatness, Pierce chose the Mavs to win Game 5 and close the series. Garnett, on the other hand, hasn't lost hope and still chose his former team.
Doncic has played well in the conference finals as he's averaging 31.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 9.0 assists. The star guard has also knocked down 39.5% of his shots from beyond the arc.

Another former NBA star impressed by Luka Doncic
In this postseason, Luka Doncic and the Mavs have been on a tear and are on a mission to play in the NBA Finals for the first time since 2011. Doncic isn't doing everything on his own as his backcourt mate, Kyrie Irving, has also had an amazing postseason run.
Former NBA star, Carmelo Anthony, praised Doncic and Irving for how good they've been for Dallas.
"That's a hell of a backcourt," Anthony said. "Like how do you guard [them]? You can't defend that. You could try... And you can't stop Kyrie, because you don't know how to stop him... He's just gonna give the ball to Luka and come off a screen and keep moving... They are one of the best one-two punches that this game has ever seen."
The All-Star backcourt of Dallas has been the team's go-to weapon throughout the playoffs.
