"Scary hours Minnesota": Julius Randle's wife Kendra Randle hyped about his move to the Wolves
Julius Randle and Karl-Anthony Towns were involved in arguably the biggest trade from this NBA offseason. Randle was already in the news for allegedly not being satisfied with the New York Knicks system and potentially wanting a trade. Once the trade between the three teams was pulled, Kendra Randle was hyped for her husband.
The wife of the former Knicks star took to her social media to express her excitement for her husband. She posted a story on her Instagram that showed the potential lineup for the Minnesota Timberwolves for the next season.
Reacting to the post, Kendra wrote in her story that scary hours were coming for the Timberwolves next season.
"Scary hours. Minnesota here we come."
According to the post, the potential starting lineup for the Timberwolves would include Julius Randle along with Mike Conley, Anthony Edwards, Jaden McDaniels and Rudy Gobert.
The Karl-Anthony Towns and Julius Randle move was a three-team trade including the Knicks, Timberwolves, and the Charlotte Hornets. The Knicks got Towns, the Timberwolves received Randle, Donte DiVincenzo and a future first-round draft pick through the Detroit Pistons. The Hornets received DaQuan Jeffries and cash considerations.
The trade between the Timberwolves and the Knicks sending Towns to New York was not anticipated, in contrast to Randle's situation.
Towns had been the Timberwolves' franchise player before Edwards arrived. Moreover, he had never expressed his dissatisfaction with his former team.
Did Timberwolves really get scarier after Julius Randle trade?
Perhaps the most important piece of the trade was largely lost among the big names involving the trade. While replacing Karl-Anthony Towns with Julius Randle would not be considered making a more robust starting lineup, it makes Donte DiVincenzo the most underrated piece.
The former Knicks player is an excellent three-point shooter which will help the Timberwolves open up the floor. Moreover, he is a great wing defender who gives the Timberwolves one more guard to defend.
If coach Chris Finch puts DiVincenzo in the second lineup, it could make the Timberwolves even more dangerous. Their bench defense and overall offensive production should increase. However, questions remain focused on Julius Randle being injury-prone.
On the other hand, the Knicks were in dire need of a center after Mitchell Robinson's return was delayed for the upcoming season due to his injury. Getting Towns, who is not just a great scorer but also a great defender in the paint, elevates New York.
The Knicks are now perhaps the deepest team in the league.
Last season, despite his reduced role on offense, Towns averaged almost 22 points and 8.3 rebounds per game on 50.4/41.6/87.3 shooting splits.
