Serena Williams' millionaire husband Alexis Ohanian uses Kobe Bryant's iconic line to sum up groundbreaking NYC event

Millionaire businessman Alexis Ohanian used Kobe Bryant's iconic line to promote his latest business venture in New York City. Ohanian, husband of tennis legend Serena Williams, recently launched Athlos, a professional women-only track meet.

On X (formerly Twitter), Ohanian retweeted a post about the number of online viewers of Athlos' opening event last Thursday at the Icahn Stadium in New York. He paired the post with Bryant's famous meme about the job not being finished, signaling that they are just getting started.

"YES," Ohanian posted on X along with Kobe's GIF.

Athlos had a successful first event in New York on Thursday, featuring 36 female track athletes. It was Alex Ohanian's first venture in track sports following his initial investment in Angel City FC, a women's professional soccer team playing National Women’s Soccer League based in Los Angeles.

Some of the athletes who competed in the event composed of six races include Olympians such as Brittany Brown, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, Salwa Eid Naser, Marileidy Paulino, Masai Russell, Gabby Thomas and Danielle Williams.

The winners of each six competitions will win $60,000 plus 10% of all commercial revenue divided among all 36 competitors. It's a new venture in the growing sport of track following a successful Olympics in Paris. Other future track league events include Michael Johnson's Grand Slam Track in 2025 and Barry Kahn's Dual Track, as per Let's Run.

Athlos' live stream of the event on X had around 265,400 viewers, while an estimated 40,000 people watched it on YouTube. And based on Alex Ohanian's tweet and use of Kobe Bryant's GIF, his new venture into women's sports, specifically in track, is just getting started and ready to take over.

Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest players in NBA history, winning five championships, all with the LA Lakers. Bryant is also one of the most iconic players ever full of many moments on and off the court.

One of Bryant's most famous moments off the court happened after Game 2 of the 2009 NBA Finals against the Orlando Magic. It was in the postgame press conference and the "Black Mamba" was asked if he was happy with a 2-0 lead heading into Game 3 in Florida.

Here was Kobe's response:

"What's there to be happy about? Job's not finished. Job finished? I don't think so."

The clip above showed how determined Kobe Bryant was to win his fourth NBA championship. Bryant's last title at that point was in 2002 and he was back on the game's biggest stage after losing the 2008 NBA Finals to the Boston Celtics.

He wasn't going to celebrate a 2-0 lead since the job is not finished. But they did finish it in Game 5 when they defeated the Magic 4-1 to win ring No. 4.
