“Seven people punched in their face” – 4x NBA champion shares his ‘starting 5’ from his former teammates

Former NBA player John Salley spoke about some of the best players he played with during an appearance on Shannon Sharpe's "Club Shay Shay"

Considering that he's played alongside Isiah Thomas, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and many others, he has valuable information that he can give fans.

John Salley broke down the starting five of his former teammates:

"I would have shaquille-oneal" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-is-sponsored="false">Shaquille (O'Neal), Bill Laimbeer, Dennis Rodman, Kobe Bryant. That kind of makes me feel like I'm going to drink then hold on. Shaquille, Kobe, Isiah, Michael, Dennis Rodman. Let me tell you what would happen. Their record would be seven people punched in the face.
"This is why. Michael is not going to pass the ball, OK? Kobe is not going to pass the ball. Isiah depending on the day is going to tell you who is going to get the ball, OK? Dennis is going to play the toughest defense on whoever the other big is, and Shaquille is going to be in the middle."
.@thejohnsalley says 7 people would’ve been punched in the face on this team 🤣

Is this the best starting five of all-time?

There's a good argument to be made that John Salley is talking about five players who are the best five to have ever played the game. These guys have all shown the ability to be champions and be the best player on a championship team. Because of this, this is probably the best starting five out of any former player's team that can ever be put together.

Any team that would have Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, and Shaquille O'Neal would be nearly unstoppable against any of the all-time greats. No matter what other three players that someone puts up against them, those guys will find a way to dominate. These are three of the top five to 10 players of all time, including the greatest player ever.

Salley has had some of the best analyses of any former player. Considering that he's a four-time NBA champion and played with some of those guys, take his words with a lot of respect because of what he's done throughout his career.

Although Shannon Sharpe was a football player, it's great to see him talk about any sport because of the knowledge he has from following the game for so long. This is another example of that.

Let's see who he has in store for us next time as there will likely be another former player who was one of the best of their generation.
