"Shaboozey put me on country music": Tyrese Haliburton credits 'Start a Riot' star for introducing him to an enjoyable music genreĀ
Indiana Pacers All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton enjoys diverse kinds of music, including country, which he credits American recording artist Shaboozey for introducing him to it.
In a video posted on X, formerly Twitter, by Legion Hoops on Thursday, the Team USA member talked about his musical preferences. Haliburton gave special mention to Shaboozey, who was featured in Duckwrth's "Start a Riot" track for motion picture Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Tyrese Haliburton said:
"I'm not really a hype music guy. Not really down with that. I like to listen to stuff, like, calms me down, chill stuff. I really like old soul, for real. I really listen to a lot of old stuff. Michael Jackson is my all-time favorite artist, I listen to a lot of that. I listen to a lot of Drake...
"I ain't gonna lie, Shaboozey put me on country music. I wasn't to country music like that. I wasn't jacking it. Then Shaboozey came out, and I met him at the White Party, super cool. When I started listening to Shaboozey then I got to Morgan Wallen..."
Tyrese Haliburton is with Team USA and is often spotted with his headphones on listening to music. They begin their Paris Olympic Games campaign next week. He saw action in four of the team's five tune-up games in the lead-up, averaging two points, 2.8 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 15 minutes of play.

Tyrese Haliburton out for redemption with Team USA
Tyrese Haliburton is back for another tour of duty for Team USA. He's out for redemption after failing to land a podium finish with the team in last year's FIBA World Cup held in Asia.
The 24-year-old two-time NBA All-Star was part of the U.S. squad that finished fourth in the World Cup. He's now looking to top that at the Paris Olympics this year.
Tyrese Haliburton spoke about his experience in the World Cup and how it's fuelling him for the Olympics (via USA Basketball):
"Last year, we spent like a month, 40 days together (as a team) and left with nothing. I left with great experiences, good friends, good relationships, but we're all there at the end of the day to win a medal."
At the Olympics, Haliburton joins World Cup teammate Anthony Edwards (Minnesota) as well as LeBron James and Anthony Davis (LA Lakers), Kevin Durant and Devin Booker (Phoenix). Steph Curry (Golden State), Joel Embiid (Philadelphia), Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday and Derrick White (Boston), and Bam Adebayo (Miami) are the other squad members.
The team is tasked to claim a fifth straight Olympic gold medal. Its bid starts on July 28 against Serbia in a Group C game.
