Shai Gilgeous-Alexander pens endearing message for beloved wife Hailey Summers’ birthday
OKC Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has gained a reputation as one of the NBA’s caption kings, often using clever lines in his posts. On Tuesday, he channeled that talent into an endearing birthday tribute for his wife, Hailey Summers.
The two-time All-Star kept the message simple, sharing it in a series of Instagram stories featuring photos of the couple, ending with a sweet message.
"HBD Love you forever and always," he said, adding a series of heart emojis.
Hailey Summers, born in Hamilton, Ontario, on Oct. 22, 1999, shares an athletic background with Shai. She played as a defender for the University of Albany’s soccer team, the Great Danes, appearing in 56 games and recording three assists and one goal.
The couple got engaged in June 2023 and married in February 2024.

Last season, Shai became a father. During the first-round series between the OKC Thunder and New Orleans Pelicans on April 25, Hailey Summers gave birth to their first child, Ares.
The Thunder star and his wife, a former college soccer player, have been together since 2016, long before Shai was drafted 11th overall by the LA Clippers in 2018.
As Shai prepared for his seventh NBA season, he shared a series of photos, including one featuring Ares, with the caption:
“Ares’ dad entering year 7.”
In the photo, Ares sported a Thunder No. 2 jersey with his first name on the back. The other images were from the Thunder’s media day, including shots with teammates Jalen Williams and Lu Dort.
Last season, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was an MVP finalist, averaging 30.1 points, 6.2 assists and 5.5 rebounds in 75 games, leading the Thunder to become the youngest No. 1 seed in NBA history.
This year, the Thunder will aim to finish stronger with the offseason additions of Isaiah Hartenstein and Alex Caruso.
They begin their season on the road against the Denver Nuggets on Thursday and the Chicago Bulls on Saturday. Their first home game will be against the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday.
