Shai Gilgeous-Alexander stats: Canada guard's performance in wining effort vs France

OKC Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander did everything he can for Team Canada when they played against France in an exhibition game ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The Canadians overcame the challenge that the French brought with them and got an 85-73 win. SGA was the best player for Canada as they got ready for the start of the Olympics.

Gilgeous-Alexander had a great game as he finished with 23 points, five rebounds and five assists. The guard had a decent outing in shooting the basket as he made six of his 13 shots from the field.

From downtown, however, he wasn't as effective. The scoring guard only made two of his nine attempts from beyond the arc.

He wasn't the only player in their national team who scored more than 20 points. RJ Barrett assisted with 21 points and four rebounds. The Toronto Raptors forward made the most of his trips to the charity stripe. Barrett shot 10-12 from the free throw line against France.

For France, it was Guerschon Yabusele who took over for the team. He scored 19 points and grabbed four rebounds in their friendly contest against Canada. Four-time Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert also had a decent outing. He finished with 12 points and six rebounds.

For SGA, his performance against France was better than how he played against Team USA. The Thunder guard only had 10 points in that friendly game. The Canadians lost that night but they've improved their performance in the exhibition games so far.

Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray didn't suit up for tonight's game.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has a winning mindset for the Thunder next season

Last season, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder to the top spot in the Western Conference and a fairly deep playoff run. Great things are expected from the guard as he continues to take on the leadership role. He's shown his command in putting the most points for the team.

However, despite his individual efforts, he has not had a major scoring night. SGA was recently interviewed by The Oklahoman's Joe Mussatto where he talked about his mindset in being the scoring leader for the Thunder.

"It'll come one day," SGA said. "Hopefully, sooner rather than later just to get a taste of it. But yeah, once I'm out there, none of that is going through my mind. Just try to win the basketball game. If it happens, it happens."

Gilgeous-Alexander has put up at least 30 points in the past two seasons. However, a major scoring night is yet to come.
