"Shams got hacked?" - $244,623,120 Pacers star questions NBA insider for blockbuster trade involving Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis

The NBA world was stunned after a blockbuster trade involving Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis was reported by ESPN's Shams Charania. Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton was like a lot of people online, asking if the famous basketball insider was hacked.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Haliburton asked the question if Charania was hacked after the LA Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and Utah Jazz seemingly agreed to one of the biggest trades in NBA history.

"Shams got hacked?" Haliburton tweeted.

The LA Lakers are reportedly trading Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a 2029 first round pick to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markief Morris.

The Utah Jazz are receiving Jalen Hood-Schifino from the Lakers, a 2025 LA Clippers second-rounder and a 2025 second-round pick from Dallas. It's likely going to end up as the most shocking trade in NBA history.

How did Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis trade materialize?

Speaking on ESPN's SportsCenter after breaking the internet, Shams Charania explained how the trade happened in the "shadows." The Dallas Mavericks reportedly offered Luka Doncic to the LA Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, who they thought fit better into their current roster.

"This deal materialized in the shadows," Charania said. "This came out of nowhere. This is maybe the most stunning trade definitely that I've been a part of in recent NBA history as far as it was never clearly out there. ... I'm told Luka Doncic, Anthony Davis, LeBron James, the players, coaches, a lot if people on both sides with the Mavericks and Lakers had no idea."

Charania added that the Dallas Mavericks were concerned about Doncic's upcoming supermax extension next season, as well as the injuries over the past couple of years. The Slovenian's conditioning has also been a source of frustration within the organization.

The Mavs reportedly looked at Davis as the better fit for their current roster that is capable of bringing a championship. AD will get to play at power forward like he always wanted, with Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively II at the five.

AD is also close with Kyrie Irving, Nico Harrison, Jason Kidd and Jared Dudley, which would make his transition much easier. Nevertheless, it was still a surprising trade given Doncic's age and Davis' injury history.

LeBron James shocked by Anthony Davis-Luka Doncic trade

According to ESPN's Dave McMenamin, LeBron James was having dinner with his family when the news of the trade broke the internet. James was reportedly stunned by the move and had no idea that it was about to happen.

The Lakers are set to finish a five-game road trip against the LA Clippers on Tuesday. It will be interesting to see how coach JJ Redick lines up following the big trade.
