Shannon Sharpe unruffled on Stephen Curry ignoring LeBron James on all-time top 5: “I believe LeBron is the GOAT...Would he be on my list, absolutely”
Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry released his all-time starting five. His list consisted of Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Dirk Nowitzki, Shaquille O’Neal and himself. Today on FS1’s “Undisputed” hosts, Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless discussed Curry’s list and the absence of LeBron James. Shannon Sharpe stated he didn’t have an issue with Curry leaving LeBron off the list.
Sharpe is known for being a huge LeBron James fan and considers him the greatest of all time. The former NFL tight end then shared his all-time starting five list. Sharpe’s list consists of Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Tim Duncan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
“I believe LeBron is the GOAT, but I have no problem with Steph leaving LeBron off his list. Would LeBron be on my list? Absolutely! My 5 would be Magic, Jordan, LeBron, Duncan & Kareem.” said Shannon Sharpe.
Both lists have Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan on them, but then they are very different. The only player that’s currently in the league on Curry’s list is himself, while Sharpe’s has LeBron. Neither person is wrong. The NBA has had so many great players that someone could name five more players that are not on either list and have a compelling argument. That’s what makes these kinds of lists fun.
Stephen Curry as an All-Time Great
Stephen Curry has put together quite the resume as an NBA player. He is a lock for the Hall of Fame and has moved into the conversation as one of the best to have ever done it. He has every accolade that a player could ever ask for. He will definitely go down as the greatest shooter ever in the NBA.
Stephen Curry is the all-time leader in three-point field goals made. He is a four-time NBA Champion, 8-time All-NBA selection, 8-time All-Star, and two-time league MVP and was named to the 75th NBA Anniversary team. Last season, he captured his first Finals MVP and Western Conference Finals MVP award.
This season, Stephen Curry is averaging 30.0 points per game, a career-high 6.6 rebounds per game and 7.0 assists per game. If the Warriors improve on their 13-13 record, it puts Curry into the MVP conversation. Winning a third MVP award would put him in the company of players like Moses Malone, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson.
If he leads the Warriors to a fifth NBA title during his career, that would make him even with Magic Johnson, Tim Duncan and Kobe Bryant. Championship number five would also push him past LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal. Stephen Curry has time to make his career one that can compare to the greatest of all time.
