TMRW Sports was co-founded by Tiger Woods, golfer Rory McIlroy and former Golf Channel executive Mike McCarley in August 2022. The company’s goal is to build “progressive approaches to sports, media, and entertainment.”

McCarley officially welcomed O'Neal, Durant and Wade earlier this week, following the news that the star trio is joining TMRW Sports' investment team.

“The broadening appeal of what we are building with TMRW Sports continues to gain momentum as we welcome more investors with Shaq, Kevin and Dwyane to our team,” McCarley said.
“As champions, they understand what it takes to build a great team. And I welcome their leadership, insight, and enthusiasm for what we’re developing as we reimagine sports through the lens of a new generation of connected fans. Plus, I can’t wait for the company pickup games,” he added.

Tiger Woods on TMRW Sports' vision

Back when TMRW Sports was launched in August 2022, Tiger Woods spoke about his excitement at being able to combine golf with cutting-edge technology:

“As a big sports fan myself, I’m excited about blending golf with technology and team elements common in other sports,” Woods said.
“We all know what it’s like to be in a football stadium or a basketball arena where you can watch every play, every minute of action unfold right in front of you. It’s something that inherently isn’t possible in traditional golf,” he continued.

TMRW Sports’ first project will reportedly be the debut of a modernized golf league called TGL. Sportico has described the league as follows:

“TGL will feature teams of golfers competing in a custom-built Florida venue every Monday night, which is a significant departure from the multi-day, 18-hole tournaments that are typical for the sport.”

TGL is set to debut in early 2024.
