Shaquille O'Neal's ex Shaunie Henderson and Sheryl Swoopes shower love on Gilbert Arenas 'finally' tying the knot
Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas and YouTuber Melli Monaco have finally made it official. The celebrity couple announced their marriage to the world by sharing a collection of pics from their wedding ceremony on Instagram on Monday.
The newly married couple looked stunning in the snaps and showed off their smiles with their fashionable looks. Arenas dropped the following caption to go with the pictures:
"I finally did it y'all @mellimonaco is officially Mrs Arenas ❤️."
The post received plenty of attention from friends and fans on social media, with Shaquille O'Neal's ex-wife, Shaunie Henderson, and three-time WNBA MVP Sheryl Swoopes sharing some kind words for Mr. and Mrs. Arenas.
"Congratulations," wrote Henderson.
"LETS GO! CONGRATS," commented Swoopes followed by three heart emojis.
Sheryl Swoopes is considered one of the greatest players to play in the WNBA. Since retiring from the league in 2011, Swoopes has worked as a coach and in broadcasting. She has been featured on Arenas' "Gil's Arena" podcast on numerous occasions.
Shaunie Henderson and Arenas' ex-wife, Laura Govan, both appeared on the show "Basketball Wives." The two had a good relationship until rumors started to circulate about Govan having an affair with Henderson's ex-husband, former LA Lakers center Shaquille O'Neal.
Gilbert Arenas and Melli Monaco reportedly met in 2023, and the relationship has grown stronger over the last year and a half.
Arenas spent 11 seasons in the NBA, playing 552 games with four different organizations between 2001 and 2012. The former Washington Wizards guard was a three-time All-Star and was named to the All-NBA second team in 2007.
Gilbert Arenas decided on a romantic Eiffel Tower proposal for Melli Monaco
Gilbert Arenas went to one of the most romantic cities in the world to propose to Melli Monaco. The two traveled to Paris in the summertime, and Arenas made sure to pop the question during their visit to the Eiffel Tower.
Arenas shared the exciting news on social media in July, dropping the following message on Instagram:
"🗣️The Eiffel Tower is Where it happened, She said nothing 🤷🏾♂️😂 i guess i was so nervous, i asked and answered 💥yes 💥for her 🥴🥴🥴 so im technically engaged to myself at the moment 😬 @mellimonaco still waiting 🙏🏿."
Monaco reciprocated with a bold gesture of her own shortly after, giving Arenas an engagement ring during their visit to a nightclub, which was also captured and shared on Instagram.
Arenas joked that he felt like a "baddie" after getting surprised with a ring in a public setting.
