Shaquille O'Neal's sons and daughters shower their mother Shauni with love on her special day
On Wednesday, Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal's ex-wife, Shaunie O'Neal, celebrated her 50th birthday. The four-time NBA champ and Shaunie have been separated since 2011 and share four kids. Their oldest son, Shareef, had a brief stint with the NBA G League Ignite, while their other son, Shaqir, plays for Florida A&M.
The couple also has two daughters, Amirah and Me'arah. Me'arah has committed to playing NCAA basketball at the University of Florida.
Shaunie posted images on her Instagram to celebrate her birthday. Shaqir, Amira and Me'arah O'Neal commented on the post.
Shaqir O'Neal also posted images on his Instagram for his mother's birthday.
Me'arah also posted a heartfelt message to her mom on her Instagram story.
"I am where I am today entirely because of you. I am wholeheartedly grateful to be able to call you my momma, the strongest most beautiful woman I know. Giamshaunie, I love you, happy birthday," she wrote.
Looking back at the time Shaquille O'Neal called Shaunie the "perfect woman" despite taking credit for messing things up
Shaquille and Shaunie have four kids together. They split in 2011, marking the second time the future Hall of Famer split with a woman with whom he shared kids.
Previously, Shaq had a daughter with Arnetta Yardbourgh in 1996. However, the two went their separate ways, which led to O'Neal and Shaunie dating and having kids together.
In a candid interview on Mo Talk Radio back in 2023, O'Neal said that despite his split from both women, he considers them both perfect.
“I had two perfect women and I messed it up. My first one was my baby mother, Arnetta, and then I met Shaunie. Shaunie was also a perfect woman and I messed it up.
Yeah, you know, we were young and always just doing dumb stuff. But, the good thing about our relationship is that they forgave me and we have a good relationship now. But when you ask me about the perfect woman — I had two perfect women and I messed it up, just by, you know, being dumb."
Despite Shaunie remarrying in 2022, O'Neal says the two have a good relationship and he will always provide for her and look out for her. So far, however, he hasn't publicly wished Shaunie a happy 50th birthday.
