"She killed everybody last year" - DeMar DeRozan reveals details of mentoring JuJu Watkins following viral workout clip
After a video of Sacramento Kings star DeMar DeRozan and USC point guard JuJu Watkins was posted on X (formerly Twitter), people were curious about what the two worked on. During DeRozan's appearance on "Podcast P with Paul George," he shared what he taught the young guard during their practice session.
"Me just giving her different looks of knowing how she goin' be played this upcoming year. Because she killed everybody last year. So, now everybody goin' be prepared on how to guard her. So, all the cool s**t wasn't seen," DeRozan said.
"She gotta shared that. I can't share ... She's special, I can't wait what she do in college and I can't wait to see how she change women's basketball."
DeRozan talked about it at the 57:45 mark:
DeRozan told the podcast that the good stuff from his training session with Watkins wasn't shown in the posted video. The mid-range master shared that he's excited to see the young star reveal what they worked on together for her sophomore season.

Last year, Watkins emerged as one of the best players in women's college basketball. She finished the season with 27.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists. However, it doesn't look like she's satisfied with what she did last season and even reached out to DeMar DeRozan to learn a few more tricks.
DeMar DeRozan shares his goal for next season
For the 2024-25 season, DeMar DeRozan will suit up for the Kings. Over the summer, he was part of a sign-and-trade deal that sent him to Sacramento. As he heads into his 16th season in the NBA, DeRozan shared his goal.
"Defintely win," DeRozan said. "My goal, I always set a goal where I always try to tell myself, [to] play at least 80 games. That's my goal because the hard work that I put in and everything else will take care of itself. [As] long as you out there, being available ... I take that serious, just being available."
The six-time All-Star has consistently played at least 60 games in his career. Last season, he was close to his 80-game goal as he played 79 games. Throughout his career, he reached the 80-game mark three times. Even at 35 years of age, the star is determined to be available for his team.
