“She has a real vision”: Magic Johnson raves about VP Kamala Harris’ position on economy, foreign policies and other issues after CNN appearance

Following US Vice President Kamala Harris' sitdown interview with CNN's Dana Bash on Thursday, NBA legend Magic Johnson praised the presidential candidate. Johnson took to X, formerly Twitter, to share his views on Harris' first full sitdown since she took over President Joe Biden's campaign.

"Vice President Kamala Harris was outstanding in her CNN interview tonight! She has a real vision for the country," Johnson tweeted.
"VP Harris was strong and clear about her positions on the economy, foreign policy, immigration, and other issues. She clearly explained why she changed viewpoints on a couple of issues which shows her humility, growth, and willingness to be open," Johnson wrote in another tweet.

Magic Johnson also praised Kamala Harris previously for her speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago last week. The five-time NBA champion shared a long tweet, highlighting that he's known Harris for over two decades and that the speech was her most powerful one yet.

"I’ve known Kamala Harris for over 20 years supporting her journey from Attorney General, to Senator, to Vice President – and tonight, she delivered her most powerful speech yet,” Johnson tweeted.

Johnson further endorsed Harris for the upcoming elections as he concluded the tweet highlighting the presidential candidate's readiness for the role.

"VP Kamala Harris showed the world how smart, tough and most importantly, how ready she is to be Commander in Chief."

Magic Johnson had also previously endorsed her as Biden's running mate during their 2020 campaign.

Magic Johnson asks for patience with new Lakers HC ahead of upcoming season

In an interview with KCAL News, LA Lakers legend Magic Johnson asked Lakers fans to be patient with the team's newly onboarded head coach, JJ Redick, who has no prior coaching experience.

He highlighted that Redick would need some time to learn his new position and that having league veterans LeBron James and Anthony Davis would help.

"We as Lakers fans gotta give JJ Redick some time to help him understand how to utilize the talent, coach the talent, what schemes will work, and what won't. This is not going to be easy. But I think having LeBron as your captain, and AD will be of help him," Johnson said.

Magic Johnson was previously the Lakers' president of basketball operations from 2017 to 2019. He was key in bringing LeBron James to the Lakers, which resulted in a championship in 2020 after a six-year playoff drought.

The Lakers have yet to make any major roster changes during free agency, except acquisitions made during the 2024 NBA Draft. They will be navigating uncharted waters under Redick's coaching, and it will be intriguing to see how that plays out in the upcoming season.
