Sherri Shepherd asserts Jill Biden should apologize to LSU: "You never invite the losing team to the White House”
The women's national championship ended up being an incredible duel between Iowa and LSU, with LSU topping Iowa 102-85 on Sunday.
First Lady Jill Biden suggested that Iowa should be invited to the White House, which is a prestigious honor for the winning team. A losing team has been invited before.
Famous TV personality Sherri Shepherd felt that only LSU should've been invited. She told TMZ:
"You never invite the losing team to the White House. I know you want Iowa to vote for your husband, but stop it! Stop it, Dr. Biden."
LSU players, including Angel Reese, had similar feelings as Shepherd. On 'I Am Athlete', she said:
"I just know if the roles were reversed, it wouldn't be the same. If we were to lose, we would not be getting invited to the White House."
Reese added:
"I don't accept that — I'm not going to lie to you, I don't accept that apology because she said what she said... You can't go back on certain things that you say. You felt that they should have came because of 'sportsmanship,' right? (Iowa) can have that spotlight; we'll go to the Obamas. We'll see Michelle. We'll see Barack."
Iowa guard Caitlin Clark said that LSU deserved its flowers and should go to the White House:
"I don't think runner-ups usually go to the White House. I think LSU should, you know, enjoy that moment for them."
It will be interesting to see what LSU does in the near future.
