Skip Bayless drops heartfelt reaction after LeBron James and Bronny James make "special" NBA history
LeBron James made NBA history on opening night when the LA Lakers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Crypto.com Arena. He played on the same court at the same time with the same team as his son, Bronny James. They were congratulated by Skip Bayless, who dropped a heartfelt reaction on social media.
In a rare occurrence on Tuesday, Bayless had nothing but love for LeBron and his son Bronny's history-making appearance in the second quarter. The former ESPN and Fox Sports analyst called it a "special" and "cool" moment.
"Man, that was very cool," Bayless said. "That was very, very special. Odds billions to one against Bronny James even being remotely good enough at this age to be on any NBA court most superstar's children just aren't. Odds trillions to one that LeBron James would defy injury and last this long in the National Basketball Association playing at this level. To see him and his son together on an NBA court in a real live NBA game was very special."
LeBron James made history with Bronny James around the four-minute mark of the second quarter. They entered the game together to play for about two and a half minutes. LeBron scored two points after missing two jump shots, while Bronny didn't record any points. He missed a tip-in and an open 3-point shot before getting subbed out.
The LA Lakers dominated the game and secured a double-digit lead in the second quarter. The Minnesota Timberwolves threatened a comeback early in the fourth quarter, trimming the advantage to just four points.
However, coach JJ Redick called a timeout to slow down the game. They piled on their lead and kept the Timberwolves at bay to earn their first win of the season. Anthony Davis led the way with 36 points, 16 rebounds and four assists in the 110-103 victory.
LeBron James comments on finally playing alongside Bronny for the Lakers
Speaking to Taylor Rooks after the game, LeBron and Bronny James were very happy with the Lakers win. LeBron preached the team's overall defense, while Bronny was just happy to play with his father.
The four-time NBA champion explained why playing with Bronny was very important to him. It's all about family for LeBron, who also celebrated his daughter Zhuri's birthday before the game.
"It's family, it's always been family over everything," LeBron said. "For me, I lost a lot of time because of this league, commitment to this league, being on the road at times. Missing a lot of his things, Bryce's things, Zhuri's things, so, to be able to have this moment where I'm working still, and I go work alongside my son, it's one of the greatest gifts I got from the man above."
LeBron and Bronny's next chance to play together again is on Friday when they welcome the Phoenix Suns.
