Sky owner Dwyane Wade pulls up to watch Angel Reese and Co in action wearing $231 Li-Ning x Jackie Chan sneakers
Dwyane Wade has been enjoying life after his basketball career. He has purchased the Chicago Sky WNBA team to keep him connected to the game that made his name known worldwide.
As the three-time NBA champion is seen courtside during the Sky's games, he gets to also showcase his taste in fashion by wearing Li-Ning shoes, the brand that created his signature basketball sneakers.
The photo released by the Chicago Sky social media page shows Wade alongside his wife, Gabrielle Union, and their daughter, Kaavia. Staying true to his wholesome father figure image, Wade wore the 'Girl Dad' Li-Ning sneaker, which was a collaboration of the sneaker brand with famous Kung-Fu actor Jackie Chan which is priced at $231 at Join Parallel.
The Jackie Chan 'Girl Dad' shoe comes in multiple colorways - beige, black white, white beige, navy white, grey black and blue black - among others.
While watching the Chicago Sky game, Wade chose the black beige colors to go with his all-black pants and vest. Also seen in his cap were the words 'Girl Dad' while dribbling a WNBA Wilson basketball.
Dwyane Wade earns Elevate Prize Catalyst Award
While known as one of the best shooting guards to ever play basketball, Dwyane Wade has also been projecting an image that many progressive fathers would like to emulate. Having a transgender daughter, Zaya, he's shown to be a supportive dad who has accepted her decisions in life.
In doing so, Dwyane Wade along with his 16-year-old daughter, created an online community 'Translatable' to give support to transgender youth along with their families.
This initiative made the retired NBA player earn a non-basketball citation as the Make Good Famous Summit gave him the Elevate Prize Catalyst Award.
"The question was presented to [Zaya] as, 'If you have one thing that you want to see change in this community, what would it be? And, for her, it goes right to parents.
"It goes right to the adults. It goes right to us. It's not the kids. It's us. And so she wanted to create a space that felt safe for parents and their kids. That's what Translatable is, and it's her baby." said Dywane Wade through a report of The Associated Press.
'Translatable' is seen as an online community created by Zaya to have a safe space for both children and parents to promote positive growth, mental heald and well being.
The award comes with a $250,000 prize and this is to help give a seed fund to 'Transalatable'. Foundation CEO Carolina Jayaram also made a separate donation to the cause praising Dwyane Wade and Zaya for their commitment to social justice.
