"Somebody named LeBron James made pretty good plays at the end" - German coach Gordon Herbert hilariously recaps Team USA’s win
Germany coach Gordon Herbert joked about LeBron James after his team's 92-88 loss to Team USA on Monday. Both national teams had their final exhibition game before they head to the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Germans were looking forward to getting a win to give them momentum for the actual tournament but were disappointed with the loss to the Americans.
James was outstanding for Team USA, especially in the fourth period, where he scored 11 points. The LA Lakers forward finished with 20 points, six rebounds and four assists.
After the game, Herbert shared his thoughts on what transpired for Team Germany. He thinks the team was able to come back in the third quarter but the aggressive play from James was too much for it.
"In the first quarter, they had us back on our heels," Herbert said. "We had a tough first quarter. I thought we regrouped some in the second quarter 'cause at the third quarter, we played our best basketball. We played with good tempo.

Franz Wagner stood out for Germany as he finished with 16 points, six rebounds and three assists. Defensively, he was fantastic with his three steals. Dennis Schroder added 13 points, two rebounds and nine assists. The point guard shot 3-for-15, including 0-for-4 from beyond the arc.
The first Olympic game for Germany will be on Saturday. It will take on Japan in the group stages, followed by games against Brazil and France.

LeBron James' teammate was energized with how he took over against Germany
Team USA finished its five-game friendly schedule with a perfect record, thanks to the brilliance of LeBron James. In its final two games, it was James who took over for the team.
Against South Sudan on Saturday, the Lakers star finished with 23 points, pushing the national team to barely win. On Monday, he took over once again and set an example for his teammates to follow.
All-Star forward Anthony Davis was in awe of what he saw with James and couldn't help but compliment his teammate.
"LeBron James ... He's still doing this at 45!" Davis said.
The Americans have enough momentum as they prepare for their first game in the Olympics. Team USA will take on Serbia on Sunday to tip off their group games.
