"Someone needs to sign this man ASAP, most talented hooper I’ve seen" - Portland Trail Blazers swingman Josh Hart reserves high praise for former No. 2 pick
Portland Trail Blazers shooting guard Josh Hart has heaped praise on Michael Beasley, describing him as the "most talented hooper" he's ever seen.
Beasley was selected with the second overall pick by the Miami Heat in 2008. Many expected Beasley to develop into a top player, but injuries derailed his career. Statistically, his best season came in 2010-11, when he averaged 19.2 points on 45% shooting. He has not been in the NBA since his stint with the LA Lakers in 2019.
ESPN's Mark Jones recently tweeted that Beasley could average 15 points per game for any NBA team right now. Josh Hart responded to Jones' tweet, saying a team needs to bring Beasley onboard.
"Someone needs to sign this man asap. Most talented hooper I’ve seen," Hart wrote.
It's incredible praise, given Hart is currently teammates with Damian Lillard and also played for the LA Lakers alongside LeBron James. Hart was also teammates with Zion Williamson during his time with the New Orleans Pelicans.
How far can the Portland Trail Blazers go next season?
The Portland Trail Blazers will have superstar Damian Lillard on their roster for at least another two years. The guard will earn more than $120 million during that period after signing a contract extension.
Giving Lillard a new contract was arguably the most important piece of business for the Trail Blazers in the offseason.
Portland also has two exciting youngsters on its roster in Anfernee Simons and Nassir Little. Both are expected to play pivotal roles alongside Lillard next season. The signing of Gary Payton II and Jerami Grant further bolster a team looking to make the playoffs at the very least.
