"Something is broken in Lakers maybe it’s LeBron": Fans in shock after ex-Laker Spencer Dinwiddie's stellar outing vs. Grizzlies
Spencer Dinwiddie delivered a crucial spark off the bench in the Dallas Mavericks' 121-116 comeback win over the Memphis Grizzlies in Tuesday night’s NBA Cup game. His standout performance quickly caught the attention of fans, who praised him on X (formerly Twitter).
Dinwiddie finished with 16 points. The former Lakers guard appears revitalized after his stint in Los Angeles last season, looking like a player reborn.
"There has been so many of them. Something is broken in Lakers. Maybe it’s LeBron. Being to big of a A lister . Dunno," a fan said.
Other fans on X had mixed reactions, with the general opinion that being a role player for the Lakers is tough.
"Shocker: Bad team doesn't help elevate roleplayers," a fan wrote.
"Lights are very bright playing for the LA, that’s probably why mostly everybody who’s a role player is very inconsistent when they go to lakers," another fan added.
Others outrightly felt he deserved more than a chance at the Lakers.
"Because Spencer feels more comfortable with this ACTUAL SYSTEM," a fan wrote.
"Dallas is his home," another fan added.
The Mavericks led 60-57 at the end of the first half, and by the start of the third quarter, their standards dropped, with costly turnovers and missed three-point shots (0-7).
They ended the third quarter trailing by 13 points. The introduction of Dinwiddie proved to be a masterstroke, and the Mavs outscored the Grizzlies 39-21 in the fourth quarter.
How has Spencer Dinwiddie fared since his return to the Mavericks?
Spencer Dinwiddie joined the Lakers last season to much fan-fare but it didn't exactly go as planned. In 28 games, he averaged 6.8 points, 2.4 assists and 1.7 rebounds.
He fared better on return to the city of Dallas. The 11-year veteran averages 7.8 ppg, 1.6 rpg and 3.2 apg. He averaged 17.2 ppg, 2.0 rpg and 6.4 apg in the last five games and has been instrumental to the Mavs' ascent to the Western Conference standings.
