"Sonny switched up quick" - Klay Thompson teases Warriors duo with 'You Got Served’ meme in his latest IG story
Newly minted Dallas Maverick Klay Thompson seems to be enjoying the jokes about his move from Golden State. Klay shared a meme on his Instagram story comparing him to a character in the 2004 dance film "You Got Served."
The meme, posted by the Instagram page stoicarchives, shows Thompson as the character Sonny, who switches dance crews because he isn't satisfied with the pay. The meme features Steph Curry and Draymond Green engaging in a dance battle against Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson as Sonny.
Thompson found the comparison amusing, saying:
"I'm crying! Sonny switched up quick!"
In the film, Sonny is part of the main crew but switches sides to the rival team after being upset about the money cut, revealing all their dance moves and causing them to lose a lot of money.
Joining the Mavericks ended Thompson’s Warriors stint, where he averaged 19.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. He was selected for five All-Star games and won four NBA championships.

Golden State legend Klay Thompson officially said goodbye to the Warriors in an Instagram post.
Reflecting on his time there, he said he had some of the "best times of my life."
“Oh Bay Area, there are not enough words and images to convey how I really feel about y'all. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for some of the best times of my life. It was such an honor to put that Dubs jersey on from day 1,” he wrote.
He emphasized that the best part of his Warriors journey was not the championships but the friendships he made that will last a lifetime.
“The best part was not the rings though, it was the friendships I made that will last a lifetime,” he said.
Throughout his career, Thompson has maintained a 3-point shooting percentage of 41.3. However, his 3-point shooting percentage of 38.7% in the 2023-24 season was the second-lowest of his career and only the second time he has shot below 40% from beyond the arc.
He also shot 43.2% from the field, ranking among the bottom three seasons of his career. Despite these struggles, he achieved a career-best free-throw shooting percentage of 92.7% this past season.
In 2023-24, his final season with Golden State, Thompson averaged 17.9 points while shooting 38.7 percent from 3-point range across 77 games. It was his first season averaging under 20 points since 2013-14.
In his final game with the Warriors, a Play-In Tournament matchup against the Sacramento Kings, he went 0-10 from the field.
