Sportscaster Noah Eagle hypes up LeBron James' clutch play vs Serbia calling him 'LeCaptain America' on air

Noah Eagle had the ultimate hype for LeBron James during the final minutes of the fourth quarter in Team USA's narrow 95-91 win over Serbia in the 2024 Paris Olympics men's basketball semifinal.

The sportscaster, who has become a household name for his impressive calling of games, refered to James by his latest nickname, 'LeCaptain America' on-air, much to the delight of fans on social media.

The video of Eagle describing James' clutch efforts in the final few minutes went viral on X (formerly Twitter).

James ended his evening with a triple-double, propping up 16 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Steph Curry was the offense's focal point, notching up 36 points, shooting 9-14 from the deep. Joel Embiid had 19 points to silence critics after a forgettable campaign.

Eagle's praise of James may have seemed like a fan moment, but there's no denying that the words will stick well in the days to come.

LeBron James earns his new nickname after making history at the Olympics

It all started when LeBron James recorded 21 points against Serbia in their Olympics opener. Soon after the comprehensive 110-84 win, Team USA's X handle called him Captain "LeMerica," and there have been a few tweaked variants of the nickname since then.

Moreover, James was earlier chosen as a flag bearer for the US at the opening ceremonies in Paris, alongside Coco Gauff. The moment made for another iconic picture for the 39-year-old when his Team USA mate Devin Booker compared him with the iconic comic character.

“That boy standing like Captain America boy ain’t he. That boy got posture boy. Stop playing with Bron Bron... he's going crazy!

The nickname took the internet by storm, and the four-time NBA champion's profile on Basketball Reference.com was updated with the same.

James has made it abundantly clear that this Olympics will be his last dance with the national team. He has since pulled out all stops to play his part in ensuring that the USA stays unbeaten.

A win on Saturday (Aug. 10) against France in the gold medal final will all but cement LeBron James' legacy as one of the greatest players to suit up for Team USA.

Tip-off for the marquee showdown is slated for 11:30 a.m. ET at the Accor Arena. Only time will tell if 'LeCaptain America' can lead his team to another win.
