Spotted: Rihanna rocks Patrick Ewing's Knicks jersey at a beach in Barbados

Rihanna is no stranger to NBA basketball and has shown her fandom by sitting courtside and wearing different jerseys. While she's a big LeBron James fan, she was spotted on a beach in Barbados sporting a Patrick Ewing New York Knicks jersey.

Rihana has supported many teams over the years, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors, LA Lakers and now the Knicks. The team, which had a breakout season in 2023 with Jalen Brunson leading the way, has caught the attention of the music superstar.

In his Hall of Fame career, Patrick Ewing averaged 22.8 points, 10.4 rebounds and 2.7 blocks in 15 seasons as a New York Knicks player. He was named to 11 NBA All-Star teams, seven All-NBA teams and three NBA All-Defense teams. Ewing was also selected as one of the top 75 players of all time on the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.

Patrick Ewing hypes up Jalen Brunson following Knicks captain selection

On Thursday, August 8, Jalen Brunson was named the Knicks' 36th captain in team history. In an introduction video titled "Just Be Jalen", Patrick Ewing offered his support for Brunson's selection as the team's captain:

"If someone told me the young boy running around The Garden would grow up to be the captain of the New York Knicks, you know what? I'd probably believe them. Even as a kid, you could connect with anyone around you. And the confidence! You'd walk up to anyone in that locker room and say just about anything."

The video transitions from showing Brunson as a child, proudly wearing his Knicks gear, to him now leading his favorite childhood team. Since joining the team, Brunson has transformed into one of the top players in the NBA, exploding onto the scene as a legitimate MVP contender in 2023.

In 77 games, Brunson averaged 28.7 points, 6.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds, earning his first NBA All-Star appearance and second-team All-NBA honors while finishing fifth in the NBA MVP race.
