Steph Curry chest bumping Kevin Durant during Team USA latest clash sends fans on a nostalgia trip: "We missed this"
Team USA has reunited the storied duo of Steph Curry and Kevin Durant, who won two championships together in 2017 and 2018. They had a 16-1 run in the 2017 postseason and a 16-5 record in the 2018 playoffs. Their time with the Golden State Warriors created a lasting bond, as seen during Wednesday's game against Serbia.
Curry and Durant's chest bump after the guard sank a basket brought fans back to the good ole days:
Users on X, formerly known as Twitter, were taken back to the time when the two swept LeBron James' Cleveland Cavaliers in four games of the 2018 NBA Finals.
"We missed this," wrote one user.
"simpler times 🥲," wrote another.
"That sh*t is beautiful," added another.
One fan joked that Durant saw the shot going in early because of his prior tenure playing with Steph Curry.
"KD knew it was going in before it went in. Call it 'Prior Experience,'" said another fan.
The former MVP left Oklahoma City to join Golden State in 2016, soon after his Thunder squad lost a 3-1 series lead to the Curry and Klay Thompson-led Warriors, who finished the regular season with a record 73 wins.
The Warriors went on to lose the Finals to James and the Cavaliers but made sure to take revenge with the addition of Kevin Durant. They immediately won two championships and could have won a third if Durant hadn't suffered an Achilles tear in the 2019 finals against the Toronto Raptors.
Some fans joked that Durant still has something in him that will draw him back to Golden State to play alongside Curry.
"KD to GSW still alive," brought up one user.
"You know that guy regrets leaving Steph," argued one fan.
Steph Curry comes alive for Team USA vs. Serbia
Steph Curry had a modest start to the Team USA exhibition matches. He scored just three points while shooting 1-6 from deep against Australia on Monday. In their first game against Canada, he shot 3-6 from deep and ended the game with 12 points, three assists and two rebounds.
Curry went off against Serbia on Wednesday, finishing the game with 24 points to help Team USA dominate in a 105-79 win in Abu Dhabi. He shot 8-12 from the field, including 6-9 from behind the 3-point line.
Steph Curry hit the first shot of the game less than a second after the FS1 commentator said, "I would look for Steph to be a little more active too." He didn't look back from there, hitting the second three of the game as well and scoring the team's first three field goals.
