Kevin Durant's mother gets candid about using sports to instill values in her sons on Sonya Curry's show

Steph Curry and Kevin Durant made their moms proud, bringing home a gold medal for the United States with a huge win over France in the men's basketball final.

On Sonya Curry's show, Raising Fame, Wanda Durant discussed how she used sports to instill values in her sons.

" ... I knew the type of men I wanted my sons to be. I used sports to help me raise them and to instill values in them. I used sports as a way for me to celebrate them outside the home ... I said, 'If I put them in sports I could celebrate them individually without one being jealous of the other"

Sonya Curry and Wanda Durant are two of the most prominent mothers of athletes in sports, using their platforms to discuss motherhood while remaining very supportive of their sons, who happen to be two future Hall of Famers in the NBA.

Sonya Curry founded the Christian Montessori School of Lake Norman in 1995, located in Huntersville, North Carolina where she remains the school's president.

Wanda Durant founded the non-profit foundation, The Real MVP Foundation, empowering women and children with education.

Steph Curry, Kevin Durant help Team USA to gold medal finish in Olympics

The men's basketball team defeated France 98-87 in the gold medal game at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Saturday.

Up 82-79 in the fourth quarter, Team USA looked towards Steph Curry to put the game away. Curry connected on a three-pointer to raise USA's lead to six with under three minutes left.

Eying a win with two minutes left, Team USA again looked to Curry who connected on yet another three-pointer to bring the score to 90-81.

Nicholas Batum connected on a three to respond before Curry answered right back with yet another three-pointer, giving Team USA a nine-point lead with just over a minute remaining.

After allowing yet another three-pointer, Team USA needed one final dagger from Curry. He delivered, connecting on his fourth three-point shot of the quarter to give the United States a 96-87 lead and took the game out of France's reach.

Steph Curry earned his first gold medal, finishing with 24 points, while Kevin Durant earned his fourth gold medal with a 15-point outing, shooting 5-12 from the field.
