Steph Curry makes showstopping Sneaker Con appearance as he debuts $140m NFL star's Under Armour cleats
Warriors star Stephen Curry made a showstopping appearance at Sneaker Con on Sunday as the convention made its way to the Bay Area. The four-time NBA champion debuted various shoes from the Under Armour X Currybrand, including $140 million NFL star Justin Jefferson's new cleats.
Bleacher Report's umbrella Instagram account BR Kicks posted a picture of the new cleats, which was later reposted by Curry. The wide receiver's studs were reportedly inspired by De'Aaron Fox's Curry Fox 1 shoes, released on Dec. 6.
The cleats feature a design similar to the Fox 1's 'The Beam' colorway, which has a violet and light purple shade on the body and an iridescent sole at the bottom. The violet and purple colors pay homage to De'Aaron's team, the Sacramento Kings, while the dazzling color signifies the beam which is a staple at the Golden 1 Center.
The Minnesota Vikings star, whose team also dons the purple color scheme, wore the Fox 1-inspired cleats during his team's win against the Seattle Seahawks. Justin Jefferson, who agreed to a $140 million contract extension, became the highest-paid non-quarterback in history back in June.
The former LSU star, who signed with Under Armour in 2020, will now wear Curry Fox 1-inspired cleats, as revealed in a post shared by Stephen Curry. The Warriors star also debuted a new design for his Curry 12s at Sneaker Con.
Curry and Golden State rapper E40 made a showstopping appearance during the night, as the duo debuted the "What the Bay" colorway for the Curry 12s.
Stephen Curry's brand gives De'Aaron Fox his signature shoe
Sacramento Kings star De'Aaron Fox became the first NBA player to sign with the Curry brand in October 2023. Fastforward to a year later and the 27-year-old became the first individual to receive a signature sneaker from the brand.
Releasing on Dec. 6, the Curry Fox 1 debuted with a 'Happy Fox Day' colorway which was reportedly inspired by the star's love for Christmas. The shoe featured a blue color scheme with an orange accent on the toe. A distinctive feature of the shoe is the 'fox strap' which goes over the laces and has a floral design.
The signature 'Happy Fox Day' colorway also comes with an alternate design, featuring a Forest Green color on the top and a metallic gold design on the strap. This motif released on Dec. 20 and, like its counterpart, retails for $120.
The third color way is the 'The Beam' which is a sneaker inspired by Fox's team, the Sacramento Kings. While already debuted by Fox in the NBA, the shoe is set to be released to the public on Dec. 27 and will retail for $120 as well.
