Steph Curry reacts to Warriors teammate securing $39 million bag
Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry congratulated teammate Moses Moody after the young guard signed a three-year, $39 million extension with the team. Moody's new contract followed an impressive preseason performance, where he averaged 15.5 points on 45.6% shooting from the field, including 39.4% from beyond the arc over six games.
Curry reacted to Moody’s new contract on Instagram, posting a story where the four-time NBA champion shared a two-word congratulatory message.
"Congrats Mo!!!" Curry wrote.
Moody was a member of the 2022 Warriors team that secured the NBA championship, with Curry earning Finals MVP honors for his outstanding performance against the Boston Celtics.
Coach Steve Kerr expressed his excitement for Moses Moody after the former Arkansas standout signed his contract extension with the team. Kerr praised Moody’s attributes and skillset, emphasizing that the young guard had earned the significant deal through his dedication and hard work.
"He’s everything we want in our program, our organization," Kerr told reporters. "Just the character, the work ethic, the resilience. He’s earned this. And I’m just thrilled for him. And I know how excited he is, as this should be a momentous day in his career. And he’s got a lot of years left, too. So I think this is great for him and great for us."
Steve Kerr hails Moses Moody's wisdom
Moses Moody has spent three seasons with the Golden State Warriors, with coach Steve Kerr closely tracking his development. Last season, Moody enjoyed his best year yet, averaging 8.1 points per game on 46.2% shooting, including 36% from beyond the arc.
Kerr praised Moody's character, highlighting the young player’s maturity and wisdom well beyond his years.
“We obviously want to invest in people,” Kerr said. “In people we believe in. Players obviously have to be talented, they have to fit in with what they do, all that stuff. But ultimately, you’re investing in people you believe in. And Moses is that person.
"He’s always been very wise, from a young age. From his first year with the team, you could see a very quiet wisdom that his parents clearly bestowed upon him. I’ve just always enjoyed coaching him and being around him. He’s been through the ringer a little bit," he added.
Moody is set to take the court when the Warriors tip off their regular season campaign against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday.
