Steph Curry shouts his mom out for helping him chase his dreams

Steph Curry gave a special shout-out to his mother Sonya Curry for helping him chase his dreams. Steph became one of the greatest players of his generation and the greatest shooter the game has ever seen. Sonya has supported his son since Day 1 of his journey.

In a post on his official Instagram stories, the Golden State Warriors superstar shared a snippet of Sonya's appearance on the "Raising Fame" podcast. She discussed the role a mother plays in her children's lives and when they go chase their dreams.

"I don't know if we believe in it. I think we just let them dream it and we try not to get in the way. We try to remove all obstacles. I do that or I did that. Just trying to set them up for success. But that really started with the foundation of life because you can have dreams, but if you just can't operate on a day-to-day basis, in your life with order, you're not gonna accomplish that dream anyway," Sonya said.

Steph Curry was always an underdog from high school to college and even in the NBA. Curry wasn't highly recruited coming out of high school and was only offered a walk-on spot by his parents' alma mater, Virginia Tech. He went to Davidson, where he made a name for himself as a lanky shooter and captivated the nation.

There were a lot of doubts if Curry's success in college would translate to the NBA, but the Golden State Warriors took a chance on him in 2009. Fast forward to six years later, the "Baby-faced Assassin" led Golden State to their first championship in 40 years. He currently has four titles to his name, adding more in 2017, 2018 and 2022.

In an interview with "Today" back in 2019, Steph Curry credited his heart, grit and never-give-up attitude to his mother Sonya Curry. Steph explained that his competitiveness was something he saw in her mother and made it his own.

"She is just like so fierce and bold and to the point direct, that I tell her I get my grit and my competitiveness and my fire from her," Steph said.

That competitiveness would come in handy three years later when the Golden State Warriors shocked the world when they won the NBA championship over the Boston Celtics.

The Warriors were written out after failing to make the playoffs in the two previous seasons. It's happening again this season, especially with Klay Thompson's potential exit.
